About The Position

This is a limited duration position in Roseburg. The Oregon Employment Department is seeking passionate individuals to join the WorkSource Oregon team. The department values a diverse workforce and encourages applications from individuals with transferable skills and qualifications. The Career Coach role involves providing high-quality employment and training services through the Job Opportunity and Basic Skills (JOBS) program, which assists families receiving Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF). This role requires collaboration with the Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS), workforce boards, and other partners to help individuals with employment, training, family stability, and well-being.

Requirements

  • Two years of experience providing customer service, which included requesting and reviewing information, documentation, and deciding an action based on the information.
  • Two years of education or experience; 45-quarter (30-semester) college-level credits in Human Resources, Vocational or Career Counseling, Social Services, Psychology, Education, Business or Public Administration, Communication or related field substitute for one year of experience.
  • Travel to ODHS offices and satellite offices is required. A personal vehicle may be needed with mileage reimbursement if a state vehicle is not available.

Responsibilities

  • Receive referrals from ODHS for JOBS services and meet with individuals to assess job seekers' transferable skills, interests, challenges, and employment goals.
  • Provide services such as access to work experience opportunities, High School/GED support, training, and other work-based programs.
  • Identify barriers to successful job search and explore solutions to remove them.
  • Conduct talent development workshops to teach essential skills for work readiness or career pathway opportunities.
  • Refer individuals to Roseburg WorkSource workshops and activities and provide access to full services for Oregonians.
  • Work with program data systems to track activities, attendance, and progress.
