About The Position

The Career and Financial Services Coach ensures that WSM Residential guests have a clear path to sustainable income and are supported in achieving financial wellness. The Coach helps guests create intentional financial plans, develop employable skills, and address personal challenges that may impact employment. They also facilitate classes, groups, and workshops on career readiness and financial management for guests and neighbors across Residential, Shelter, Compass, Teen Haven, Outreach, and alumni programs. All Water Street Mission staff must be: Willing to sign the Water Street Ministries’ Statement of Faith. A current and active member and/or regular attendee of a local church. Able to fully support the Water Street Mission’s core values and ministry philosophy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or five years of professional experience is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, computer-based data management, and email communication are required.
  • A valid PA driver’s license is required.
  • Must have a relationship with Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and Lord.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in career coaching, personal financial management, workforce development, and/or supporting individuals affected by substance use, mental health challenges, or other barriers to employment.
  • Spanish language proficiency is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Share the Good News of Jesus Christ in words and actions with people we serve, communicating hope and dignity.
  • Walk alongside fellow WSM staff in Christian community as we journey toward maturity.
  • Encourage restoration in the lives of coworkers and guests, recognizing we are each restored by God to become restorers.
  • Work in full coordination with other WSM staff at all times to identify, report and respond appropriately to any potential threats to the safety and wellbeing of guests.
  • Embody, encourage and cultivate WSM culture, purpose, mission and values in words and actions
  • Minister to guests/neighbors, reflecting God’s love for each individual, through a nonjudgmental, grace-filled relationship.
  • Coach guests/neighbors in the development of job competencies, resume-building and job searching with a vocational mindset.
  • Coach guests/neighbors on financial management, including budgeting, credit, and saving in preparation for financial independence.
  • Provide orientation and ongoing support for residential guests in community tasks, offering feedback and guidance that helps them achieve their career goals.
  • Collect program fees from residential guests, accurately document and track payments, and follow up as needed to ensure timely compliance.
  • Collaborate with the CFS team to facilitate career and faith-based financial management classes, groups, and workshops, adapting curriculum to WSM programs.
  • Support Residential guests in resolving conflicts and overcoming challenges related to task assignments and employment.
  • Maintain accurate records and manage guest and neighbor information, ensuring thorough and timely documentation.
  • Provide assistance and guidance to guests utilizing the Enrichment Center, as well as support to volunteers staffing the center.
  • Collaborate with other Program staff to support each guest’s journey.
  • Participate in Multi-Disciplinary Team meetings and Internal Team Meetings, as needed.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
  • Be able and willing to share the Gospel and participate in the ministry activities of Water Street Mission.
  • Subscribe to the Water Street Mission Statement of Faith and Qualifications of Employment upon hire and continuously while employed.
