About The Position

A Career Advisor is someone who provides customer-centered services designed to enhance workforce development activities and service strategies for job seekers and employers. In this role with the PA CareerLink® Greene County team, you will make a real difference every day by helping jobseekers and employers find success together. This position supports jobseekers and employers by providing guidance, resources, connections, and services. Our team helps individuals gain skills and make informed career decisions while helping businesses meet their hiring needs ethically and economically.

Requirements

• Successful completion of the Career Advisor Trainee (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration) training program; or
• One year of experience interviewing the public to collect and identify customer needs, evaluating eligibility for programs, and researching data to make decisions, and a bachelor’s degree; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Meet the PA residency requirement.
• Be able to perform essential job functions.

Responsibilities

• Assist job seekers by providing assessments, counseling, tools, and resources to help jobseekers’ identify career objectives, interests, skills, and abilities; overcome barriers; and make sound career choices.
• Help jobseekers develop long- and short-term employment goals; track progress and modify plans as necessary; and provide follow-up activities to support successful outcomes.
• Coordinate support, plan changes, and related services for jobseekers with other providers; propose hiring strategies and solutions to address employer recruitment and retention issues.
• Analyze employer workforce and economic development needs; analyze occupations to determine the skill sets needed by jobseekers; coordinate special recruitment services; and refer qualified jobseekers to openings.
• Help employers accurately advertise their businesses and job postings on PA CareerLink® Online in compliance with state and federal requirements.
