About The Position

This role involves working with young adults, ages 17-24, to promote career decision-making, develop career/employment plans, facilitate placement into subsidized training/work experience, and assist with employment acquisition. The position is located at the PA CareerLink® Lackawanna County office in Scranton, PA, with standard business hours of 8:30 A.M. - 4:30 P.M., Monday through Friday. The core of the job is to build a professional one-on-one relationship with young adults to help them overcome challenges in obtaining and retaining employment, providing assessment, individualized attention, and coordination. This includes maintaining accurate participant files, providing case management focused on self-sufficiency, conducting client orientations, coordinating with training providers, facilitating workshops, maintaining a client database, ensuring participants follow through with their Individual Employment Plans, assessing work readiness, making referrals to community services, completing enrollment documentation, resolving attendance issues, assisting with project reports, and collaborating with the business services team. Additionally, the role involves social media promotion, content creation (text, video, images), scheduling posts using applications like CANVA and Constant Contact, and targeting youth aged 17-24 with social media content. The position may also include other reasonably related tasks and duties.

Requirements

  • Ability to maintain flexibility as needs of contract or contractor require.
  • Proficiency with the use of MS Office and Google docs.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and document visits and contacts.
  • Demonstrated telephone, computer and strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in environments with multiple stakeholders, frequent change, and diverse objectives.
  • Professional understanding of a vast array of occupations and career paths.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in education, social services, and/or communications or experience commensurate with the position.
  • Demonstrates strong customer service skills.
  • Strong presentation skills with public speaking or outside sales experience recommended.
  • Prior case management experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of Scranton, PA/Lackawanna County, PA community recommended/preferred.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Clear background - FBI Fingerprint, Criminal History and Child Abuse Clearances.

Responsibilities

  • Build a professional one-on-one working relationship with young adults to aid in eliminating challenges that are hindrances to obtaining and retaining employment.
  • Prepare, organize, and maintain accurate, updated information in both electronic and paper participant files reflecting the entire history of a program participant including log of supportive services issued.
  • Provide case management with a focus on helping customers to prepare for employment that leads to self-sufficiency.
  • Provide consistent and comprehensive case management, documentation and follow-up.
  • Conduct client orientation /on-Boarding.
  • Work with local training providers and/or placement sites to ensure appropriate documentation is completed and received.
  • Facilitate professional development workshops as assigned.
  • Maintain organized database of clients and keep detailed documentation (case records) of all contacts with clients.
  • Ensure participants follow through with planned activities as outlined in developed Individual Employment Plan.
  • Provide individualized assessment of work readiness.
  • Provide referrals to appropriate community service or social service agencies when needed.
  • Accurately complete required documentation for enrollment.
  • Create solutions to participant attendance problems.
  • Assist in the preparation of project reports as needed (participation, placement).
  • Work collaboratively as part of the business services team to identify which jobs are available, what qualifications are needed, and which workshops and trainings can best prepare jobseekers for these positions.
  • Participate in activities including training, capacity building, and professional development.
  • Work with leadership to identify operational challenges and to design and implement process improvements.
  • Provide operational support and coverage as needed/assigned.
  • Provide operations support for all compliance driven standards.
  • Promote products, services, and content over social media, in a way that is consistent with an organization’s brand and social media strategy.
  • Create content, including text posts, video, and images for use on social media.
  • Schedule social media posts using applications such as CANVA and Constant Contact.
  • Coordinate and administer the development of quality social media content targeted at youth between the ages of 17-24.
