About The Position

We are seeking a Care Team Leader (CTL) / Charge Nurse to lead a world-class specialty, serving as the clinical and operational anchor for one of the premier organ transplant programs in the world. The role involves driving operational excellence by strategically assessing floor dynamics, managing patient flow, and optimizing unit resources to ensure smooth shift operations. The CTL will empower and motivate staff, acting as a key mentor and resource on the floor, fostering a culture of high performance, teamwork, and continuous professional growth. This position requires mastering resource allocation by matching patient acuity with staff competencies to ensure safe workload distribution and top-tier patient outcomes. Collaboration across disciplines is essential, partnering closely with world-renowned surgical providers, multidisciplinary care teams, and leadership to continuously improve quality service and unit efficiency. The CTL will also champion quality and value by driving clinical quality initiatives and operational standard work while supporting sound financial and resource management.

Requirements

2 years experience in an inpatient unit Required
2 years of combined work experience and leadership experience may be considered in lieu of two (2) years’ experience in an inpatient unit Required
Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of WI or holds a license issued by a jurisdiction that has adopted the nurse licensure compact Required
Current CPR/BLS certification Required
Must possess a current, valid driver’s license issued by the individual’s state of residence.
Must be at least 21 years old and have a minimum of three (3) years of driving experience to operate a Personal Vehicle, Patient/Visitor Vehicle, or standard UW Health Fleet Vehicle. Required

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) Preferred
3 years experience in an acute care inpatient unit Preferred
Relevant RN experience with department-specific patient population Preferred
National certification in relevant specialty Preferred
