About The Position

The CARE Student Services Program Advisor & Case Manager supports student success and persistence by providing direct services, case management, and program coordination for students served by the CARE Office, with a focus on foster care alumni and other students navigating basic needs insecurity, financial hardship, or personal challenges. The Advisor & Case Manager connects students with on- and off-campus resources, delivers workshops and programs that build student resilience and engagement, and monitors outcomes to ensure effective wraparound support. The position collaborates with faculty, staff, and community partners to improve access to resources, advocates for vulnerable student populations, and contributes to CARE initiatives that promote belonging and retention. Work is performed under the administrative supervision of the Assistant Director (or Associate Director) for CARE, with performance evaluated based on the effectiveness of student support, coordination of services, and program impact.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in higher education, counseling, social work, or a related field required.
  • Minimum two years of experience in student development, counseling, case management, or related field.
  • Regular and reliable attendance at the University during regular scheduled days and work hours is an essential function of this position.
  • Valid driver’s license and certification as an authorized TWU driver in order to drive on
  • University-related business.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct case management support for students experiencing foster care, homelessness, food or housing insecurity, financial distress, or other basic needs challenges.
  • Conducts assessments of student needs and develops individualized support plans.
  • Coordinates referrals to campus and community resources, monitors follow-up, and ensures wraparound support is delivered effectively.
  • Advises and supports CARE-affiliated student organizations, including the foster care alumni group, parenting students group, and related nontraditional student organizations.
  • Plans, coordinates, and evaluates educational workshops, trainings, and events that build student resilience, financial literacy, leadership skills, and sense of belonging.
  • Serves as liaison and point of contact for student parents, veterans, and other nontraditional populations as assigned.
  • Maintains accurate and timely documentation of student interactions, referrals, and outcomes.
  • Maintains and updates a database of community referral resources and partners.
  • Assists in the collection and analysis of program data to inform continuous improvement.
  • Collaborates with campus departments and external agencies to address systemic barriers and strengthen student support networks.
  • Represents CARE at university events, community forums, and professional conferences.
  • Serves on division and university committees as assigned.
  • Assists with departmental budget monitoring and reporting.
  • Supports coordination of advisory boards and councils.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Knowledge of best practices in case management, student success, and support for foster care alumni and nontraditional students.
  • Ability to coordinate student programs and resources effectively.
  • Ability to communicate difficult or sensitive information with discretion, supported by strong interpersonal skills.
  • Skill in building partnerships and collaborating with various stakeholders.
