About The Position

As a Cardiovascular Technologist, you will be at the forefront of cardiac care, utilizing cutting-edge imaging technology to directly impact life-saving diagnostic and interventional procedures. Every day, you will expertly perform specialized interventional diagnostic and therapeutic examinations of the heart and blood vessels under physician guidance, meticulously preparing patients, operating advanced radiologic equipment, and contributing critical data for interpretation. You'll ensure the safe, efficient operation of all equipment while maintaining mastery of our latest standards and protocols. To be successful in this role, you will combine advanced technical proficiency in cardiovascular imaging with a meticulous eye for detail, a commitment to patient safety, and a drive for continuous learning within a dynamic and collaborative Cath Lab team.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited school of Radiological Technology and 1-3 years One year of recent related work experience which may be obtained through practical education/training, upon hire or
  • Graduation from an accredited school of Cardiovascular Technology and 1-3 years One year of work experience in the core level of the job, or any combination of experience or education that would demonstrate the ability to perform the duties of the position, upon hire
  • Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support, upon hire
  • Medical Radiographer: WA, upon hire or
  • Registered Technologist Radiography ARRT, upon hire or
  • Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist Certification: WA, upon hire

Responsibilities

  • Prepares equipment/room to capture appropriate image, per physicians’ direction and in adherence to department protocols.
  • Reviews procedure order to determine materials/supplies that will be needed.
  • Ensures all equipment and instruments are in proper working condition by inspecting equipment in accordance with established procedures.
  • Sets up/stocks the procedure room/procedure trays with all needed supplies and equipment prior to procedure.
  • Cleans procedure room post-procedure, including cleaning of equipment/machinery in accordance with established procedures, to facilitate room turnover.
  • Inputs data into the imaging modality systems.
  • Delivers patient care for all age groups while in performing exams/procedures.
  • Assists with patient transfers to and from procedure room as needed.
  • Acts as a liaison between the patient and the physician; protects the patient, self and others from unnecessary radiation.
  • Explains procedures to patients and responds to questions.
  • In conjunction with nursing staff, monitors patient’s blood pressure and heart rate during procedures; advises physician of any significant change in patient’s condition during procedure.
  • Utilizes equipment and employs techniques/procedures per protocol and devices to ensure results are consistent; may include, but not limited to: wire, catheter, balloon management, ablations and implantations.
  • Assists the physician during procedures; utilizes sterile technique according to established policies and procedures and state/federal regulations.
  • Responds to emergency situations consistent with scope of practice.
  • Maintains records and logs as required by department protocols and licensure requirements.
  • Prepares cases for interpretation.
  • Maintains accurate patient records by documenting the patient chart with pertinent information in the electronic medical record, hemodynamic monitoring system and Radiation Information Systems (RIS).
  • Performs incidental general office duties to include, but not limited to: Answer phones; inventory management.
  • Inventory/stocking of equipment and supplies.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in the routine functions of the Cardiovascular Lab and Interventional Radiology suite, including patient flow in conjunction with nursing and staff assignments during scheduled shift(s); demonstrates competency and proficiency with equipment in the Interventional Radiology suite in performing interventional procedures.
  • Provides on-the-job training to new or lower-level employees; may prepare work schedules and review work to ensure it meets quality and productivity standards; identifies training needs and advises higher-level authority.
  • Monitors individual staff performance and provides feedback to higher-level authority; coaches employees on procedures and protocols; may provide input to formal employee performance evaluations; may participate in the process for initial employment interviews; may conduct department-level new hire orientations.
  • Orders supplies as needed to maintain appropriate supply levels.
  • Ensures timeliness and accuracy of charges in accordance with established standards.
  • Assists employees with complex/unprecedented/ambiguous matters; reviews elevated issues/situations and takes action consistent with assigned scope of authority.
