About The Position

This role provides cardiac rhythm-based technical support for Non-Invasive Cardiovascular Services. Responsibilities include recording and processing 12-lead electrocardiograms (EKG), continuous monitoring of patient cardiac rhythms and reporting of critical information (cardiac surveillance), and reviewing 24- and 48-hour rhythm recordings to compile reports for physician review (ambulatory monitoring). The technician may also monitor patient's rhythm and status and operate equipment during exercise testing (stress testing). Additionally, there is a possibility to support the organization's IV services by acting as a second-tier source for starting IVs and drawing labs.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent
• Basic Life Support certification through the AHA
• Basic computer operations experience
• Some familiarity with software programs such as Word, Excel and Outlook
• Ability to balance and manage carrying-out multiple tasks simultaneously
• Ability to utilize automated menu system to manipulate, process and enhance patient information
• Ability to recognize and trouble-shoot equipment problems in order to ensure adequate signal and know when to request support from Clinical Engineering

Nice To Haves

• Coursework in EKG; rhythm interpretation; anatomy; physiology or other related courses
• Experience as an EKG technician; Cardiac Surveillance Technician; Emergency Medical Technician; Cardiovascular Technician; Phlebotomist; Paramedic or equivalent position or a certificate of completion or degree related to rhythm analysis or exercise physiology or related allied health field
• Knowledge of electrocardiograph procedures and the EKG manifestations of the entire variety of cardiac arrhythmias in order to identify and effectively communicate significant and/or life threatening cardiac rhythms
