About The Position

The Department of Surgery, Division of Cardiovascular Surgery at Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University is seeking a cardiovascular surgeon whose clinical expertise includes the full spectrum of cardiovascular surgery including coronary surgery, surgical and transcatheter valve procedures, aortic surgery, arrhythmia surgery, and surgery for advanced cardiopulmonary failure including mechanical circulatory support such as LVAD and ECMO, heart/lung transplantation and organ procurement, and is genuinely interested in heart transplantation and mechanical circulatory support with passion. Over the last several years, Temple's prestigious thoracic transplant/mechanical circulatory support program has grown steadily. Our mission is to continue to provide our excellent care to as many patients as possible while focusing on excellent outcomes, and to lead the field of heart transplantation and mechanical circulatory support clinically and academically. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply. The Division has experienced significant clinical growth in all subspecialty areas over the past several years, and continues to expand its services regionally and nationally. The new faculty member will benefit from the mentorship of the experienced and accomplished faculty. The Department of Surgery offers potential candidates a uniquely supportive practice environment with an emphasis on quality patient care, research, teaching, individual career development, and collegiality among faculty members. The successful candidate will be expected to closely work with and assist the surgical director of heart transplantation and mechanical circulatory support, and have the ability to collaborate and work in a team environment in maintaining or improving good early and long-term outcomes, and maintaining or increasing heart transplant and mechanical circulatory support volume. You are also expected to make clinical, academic and research contributions to the Department. We expect you to become a leader in the field of heart transplantation and mechanical circulatory support.

Requirements

  • MD, DO or foreign equivalent
  • Board Certification/Eligibility by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery
  • Credentials that will support a faculty appointment at the minimum level of Assistant Professor
  • Eligibility for unrestricted medical licensure in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
