About The Position

This is a full-time Cardiovascular & Electrophysiology Specialist III position within the Atrium Health EP Float Pool. The role involves providing care for patient comfort and well-being, assisting with treatments, therapies, and procedures under physician direction, administering medication, documenting patient information, and communicating relevant details to physicians and teammates. The specialist will also calculate, interpret, and analyze data, and assist in developing policies, procedures, and standards of care. Participation in committee and governance activities is highly recommended. The position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with periods of prolonged concentration and critical thinking. Physical requirements include walking, standing, sitting, lifting up to 50 pounds, reaching, stooping, bending, pushing, pulling, and standing/walking while wearing lead radiation protection aprons. The role may involve exposure to radiation, secretions, and blood in a confined work area. Fluency in English and intact senses of sight, hearing, smell, touch, manual dexterity, and good eye-hand coordination are necessary. Requirements

  • Satisfactory completion of high school and an accredited program of Cardiovascular/Cardiopulmonary technology, The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, or related field required.
  • If not licensed or certified (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist or Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist, allied health professional will have up to 12 months to successfully obtain.
  • Graduate of an accredited Allied Health Technology program, such as Radiologic Technology, Respiratory Therapy, or comparable.
  • Graduate of Cardiovascular Interventional Program or minimum of two years of experience as a Cardiovascular Specialist.
  • Fluency in reading, writing and speaking English.
  • Intact sense of sight, hearing, smell, touch, manual dexterity, good eye hand coordination.
  • Must be able to respond quickly to changes in patient and/or unit conditions.

Nice To Haves

  • EP experience preferred.
  • Invasive Cardiovascular Specialist/Electrophysiology Specialist training or experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates evidence-based practice and performs care for the comfort and wellbeing of the patient.
  • Performs and/or assists with treatments, therapies, and procedures (including scrub assistant, monitoring and circulating) under the direction of the physician.
  • Administers medication under the direct supervision of the physician, as appropriate.
  • Documents a current clinical picture and records designated information in the patient record.
  • Conveys relevant information to physicians and teammates.
  • Calculates, interprets and analyzes data.
  • Assists in development of policies, procedures and standards of care reflective of current practice/literature.
  • Highly Recommended to participate in committee and governance activities.
