About The Position

This is a locum tenens position for a Physician Assistant specializing in Cardiovascular/Cardiothoracic Surgery in Mason City, Iowa. The role involves both inpatient and outpatient services, including clinical duties and call coverage. The case mix includes Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG) and Endoscopic Vessel Harvesting (EVH). The facility is a Level 2 Trauma Center.

Requirements

• Board Certified (PA-C) – REQUIRED
• Active Iowa PA license (or ability to obtain; new license processed in 4–6 weeks)
• ACLS, BLS – REQUIRED
• Minimum 2 years of Cardiothoracic Surgery experience – REQUIRED
• Clean malpractice/background history
• NPDB Self-Query report within 30 days
• Availability to cover listed dates

Responsibilities

• Provide outpatient clinic services, including preoperative evaluations and postoperative follow-ups.
• First-assist in cardiothoracic surgeries, including CABG procedures.
• Perform endoscopic vessel harvesting (EVH).
• Cover overnight and weekend call, responding to inpatient consults and urgent surgical needs.
• Collaborate with the cardiothoracic surgery team to deliver comprehensive patient care management.
