About The Position
We are seeking a Cardiothoracic Surgery Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) for a locum tenens position at an acute care hospital in Flagstaff, AZ. This role involves clinical duties and call coverage for adult and geriatric patients undergoing cardiothoracic surgery. The NP/PA will manage patients in the CVICU and step-down unit, assist with surgeries, perform specific procedures, and collaborate with the cardiothoracic surgery team. The position requires experience with Endoscopic Vein Harvest (EVH) and documentation in the Cerner EMR system.
Requirements
- Active Arizona PA License or Arizona APRN License
- NCCPA (PA) or ANCC/AANP (NP) certification
- Active DEA
- ACLS and BLS (AHA) certification
- Minimum 3 Years of Recent CT Surgery Experience with EVH
- PA - Graduate of Accredited PA Program and NCCPA Certified
- NP - Graduate of Acute Care NP Program, RN/NP First Assistant Program, and Arizona APRN License
Responsibilities
- Manage cardiothoracic surgery patients in the CVICU and step-down unit
- Assist with cardiothoracic surgical procedures
- Perform EVH and approved bedside procedures
- Provide weekday and weekend call coverage
- Document patient care in Cerner and collaborate with the cardiothoracic surgery team
