About The Position

Altru Health System is seeking a Cardiothoracic Surgeon to join our growing heart and vascular program. This is an exciting opportunity to practice the full breadth of CT surgery with strong APP support and the ability to operate every day. The position highlights include a robust APP model with dedicated APP support for inpatient rounding and surgical assist, including an APP specifically trained to be in the OR with you. You will see a diverse case mix, including the full spectrum of cardiothoracic care—heart, lung, and general CT cases. There is a high-volume OR experience with the ability to operate daily with a case variety that keeps your full CT skill set sharp. TAVR opportunities are available as part of our expanding structural heart program. If you have vascular experience, there is flexibility to incorporate vascular procedures into your practice. You will work alongside experienced cardiac and vascular surgeons, interventional cardiologists, and a large advanced practice provider team.

Requirements

  • Board Eligible/Board Certified in Cardiothoracic Surgery
  • Licensed MD/DO in ND and MN
  • Doctorate within specified field of medical practice from respective accredited school.
  • Must be admissible to sit for either the Canadian or American Board or be certified by the Canadian Board and are members of either the Royal College of Physicians or Royal College of Surgeons, American board certification or the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) board certification.
  • Board certification in area of specialty must be obtained within five years of employment
  • Be legally licensed to practice medicine in North Dakota and/or Minnesota, depending on the location of the practice to which they are assigned
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English to ensure effective communication in the workplace and with patients, families, and team members.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates, provides diagnosis and treatment of patients of Altru Health System who present with injuries or illnesses.
  • Counsels patients and advises on preventative healthcare measures.
  • Exercises Doctor's own judgment in the diagnosis and treatment of patients consistent with Altru’s policies and standards.
  • Achieves the Altru Health System Patient Engagement and Quality & Safety goals established on an annual basis.
  • Participates in activities and support department goals as defined by department on an annual basis.
  • Maintains accurate and timely documentation ensuring quality patient care and assurance of appropriate reimbursements to Altru Health System.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
