About The Position

Sentara is hiring an experienced Cardiothoracic OR Scrub Registered Nurse (RN) at Norfolk General Heart Hospital, in Norfolk, Virginia. This role is responsible for maintaining a safe and sterile environment throughout the surgical procedure for the cardiothoracic patient. Key responsibilities include managing surgical instruments, maintaining sterility and a sterile field, assisting the surgeon by providing necessary tools, performing surgical counts to ensure no instruments are left behind, and coordinating with the broader surgical team. The nurse will manage complex open heart and thoracic surgeries, including bypass surgery, valve replacement, aortic dissection repair, heart transplant, TAVR, and both open and minimally invasive thoracic cases. The position is crucial for the delivery of safe, effective, and quality patient-family centered care in the Cardiovascular Operating Room.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year clinical RN experience REQUIRED

Nice To Haves

  • Cardiothoracic experience STRONGLY PREFERRED
  • 2+ years of clinical RN experience STRONGLY PREFERRED
  • 1+ year scrub experience STRONGLY PREFERRED
  • 1+ year CVOR circulating experience STRONGLY PREFERRED
