This position works under the supervision of the Senior Administrative Director of Cardiopulmonary Services or designee, Manager or Supervisor. The role assists with the preparation, processing, and distribution of patient charts, reports, and billing. It involves scheduling patient tests, notifying appropriate personnel, and providing clerical support. The assistant will answer departmental phones, route calls, and utilize hospital and department computer systems for various tasks including word processing and project completion. The role also involves performing technical and clinical work as outlined by the American Society Electroneurodiagnostic Technologist Standards (ASET), including recording EEG awake and asleep, evoked potentials, AABR, and EEG seizure monitoring. The assistant must demonstrate knowledge and skills for age-appropriate patient care. Responsibilities include preparing, processing, and distributing patient charts, reports, and billing, scheduling outpatient appointments, and maintaining accurate patient records. The role involves answering phones, confirming patients for evening sleep studies, rescheduling cancellations, and managing the cancellation list. The assistant will advise the Manager when patient beds are not filled and route calls or take messages. They will greet evening patients, provide tours, show patients to their rooms, and instruct them on the use of room amenities. The assistant confirms patient identity, applies wristbands, instructs patients to change, and guides them through electronic registration, confirming signatures. Clerical support includes using hospital and department computer systems for forms, procedures, policies, schedules, and word processing. Duties also include special project assignments and assisting others. The role assumes an active part in the Sleep Medicine Department’s Continuous Quality Improvement Program and report processing. Effective communication and teamwork skills are essential when working with patients, co-workers, and hospital staff. The assistant will establish, maintain, and file computerized records and databases for the Cardiopulmonary Service Line, utilizing hospital and department computer systems (including PACS and Reporting Software, Microsoft Office Suite). The position also performs noninvasive Neurodiagnostic procedures such as awake, asleep EEG's, Evoked Potentials, EEG/Video monitoring, and AABR’s.
