About The Position

The Cardiopulmonary Department Manager provides strategic and operational leadership for all cardiopulmonary services, including rehabilitation, diagnostic evaluation, and respiratory care for patients with pulmonary and cardiopulmonary disorders. This position is responsible for personnel management, service line oversight, quality improvement initiatives, regulatory compliance, budgeting, and maintaining professional standards of practice. The Manager promotes the hospital’s mission, vision, and values while ensuring compliance with applicable state regulations, accrediting agencies, and professional practice standards.

Requirements

  • Current and unrestricted Respiratory Care Practitioner licensure in the State of California.
  • Associate Degree in Respiratory Therapy or a healthcare-related science.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of respiratory therapy experience in an acute care setting.
  • Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) Certification.
  • Current PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) Certification.
  • Current NALS (Neonatal Advanced Life Support) Certification.
  • Strong organizational, critical thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency with experience in data management and analysis.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a healthcare-related science.
  • At least one (1) year of leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Current IV and blood draw certification.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and oversee daily operations of the Cardiopulmonary Department on a 24-hour basis.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop cardiopulmonary staff to achieve excellence in patient care and service delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, licensing, accrediting, and professional standards, including Business and Professional Code Section 3207.7.
  • Monitor departmental performance, quality metrics, and patient outcomes.
  • Coordinate rehabilitation, diagnostic evaluation, and therapeutic cardiopulmonary services.
  • Manage staffing, scheduling, performance evaluations, and employee development.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and best practices to support safe, effective patient care.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nursing leadership, and interdisciplinary teams to improve patient outcomes and operational efficiency.
  • Utilize data management and analysis tools to support quality improvement and departmental decision-making.
  • Perform clinical duties within the scope of licensure and professional practice as needed.
