Cardiology Veterinary Assistant
About The Position
MedVet is hiring a Cardiology Veterinary Assistant to join its clinical team at an emergency and specialty veterinary practice. The Cardiology department collaborates with multiple specialties across the hospital, and the assistant will have opportunities to expand their knowledge and skills in advanced cardiology procedures. The role serves as a liaison between cardiologists and clients, assists with client education and scheduling, and manages patient appointments. The proposed schedule is Tuesday through Thursday in Cardiology from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday in Nursing from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. The position requires prior veterinary experience, the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, and flexibility to work additional hours when necessary. Employment is contingent on passing a drug screen and background check.
Requirements
- Prior veterinary experience is required.
- Proficiency in calculations, including drug calculations, constant rate infusions, and unit conversions.
- Flexibility with work hours and ability to work additional hours when necessary.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Nice To Haves
- Cardiology experience is desired.
Responsibilities
- Assist with patient procedures, including echocardiography, thoracentesis, pericardiocentesis, and interventional cardiology procedures.
- Assist with appointments, obtain patient histories, maintain medical records, invoice clients, and discharge patients.
- Organize and manage daily service flow.
- Obtain blood pressure readings and ECGs.
- Educate clients about cardiology disease processes.
- Help ensure patients receive high-quality care and deliver the MedVet experience to clients, patients, and teammates.
- Teach, multitask, and contribute as a functional team member.
- Ensure documentation is accurate and complete.
