About The Position

This is an ongoing coverage need for a Cardiology NP in an inpatient setting. The role involves managing new and follow-up patients, daily rounding and documentation, and discharge planning. The average patient load is 10-15 patients per day. The schedule is Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, with rotating night and weekend call (1:3/1:4). The patient population is adult. The EMR system used is EPIC. Credentialing takes approximately 90-120 days.

Requirements

• Active Virginia licensure
• Board certification
• AHA BLS and ACLS certification
• Minimum 1-year Cardiology experience or equivalent
• Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree focused on an NP specialty (e.g., family practice, adult-gerontology, pediatrics) OR Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) degree from an accredited program
• Active and unencumbered advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) license in Virginia OR Active and unencumbered physician assistant (PA) license in Virginia
• National certification as an NP in a relevant specialty area by a recognized certifying body (e.g., American Academy of Nurse Practitioners [AANP]) OR National certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
• Strong clinical knowledge and assessment skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with patients
• Proficiency in performing physical examinations and procedures relevant to their specialty
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to diagnose and manage complex medical conditions
• Time management skills to efficiently manage a patient workload
• Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with a healthcare team

Responsibilities

• Manage new patients and follow-up visits
• Daily rounding and documentation
• Discharge planning
• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to diagnose and treat a variety of medical conditions
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests
• Prescribe medications and manage chronic conditions
• Provide patient education and counseling on healthy lifestyle choices
• Perform procedures as permitted by state regulations and APP specialty
• Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated care
• Document patient care accurately and thoroughly
