About The Position

This is an ongoing coverage need for two Cardiology NP/PA positions in an inpatient setting. The unit has a 38-bed capacity with an average census of 10-12 patients. The role involves providing comprehensive patient care, developing treatment plans, ordering and interpreting tests, prescribing medications, and performing procedures as permitted. Collaboration with physicians and other healthcare providers is essential, as is accurate and thorough documentation. The position is for adult patients and utilizes the Cerner EMR system. Credentialing is expected to take 90 days. This role is offered as an independent contractor (1099) position.

Requirements

  • Active North Carolina licensure
  • Board certification
  • AHA BLS certification
  • Minimum 1-year Cardiology experience or equivalent
  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree focused on an NP specialty (e.g., family practice, adult-gerontology, pediatrics) OR Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) degree from an accredited program
  • Active and unencumbered advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) license in North Carolina OR Active and unencumbered physician assistant (PA) license in North Carolina
  • National certification as an NP in a relevant specialty area by a recognized certifying body (e.g., American Academy of Nurse Practitioners [AANP]) OR National certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
  • At least one year of experience in a clinical setting relevant to their specialty

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to diagnose and treat a variety of medical conditions
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests
  • Prescribe medications and manage chronic conditions
  • Provide patient education and counseling on healthy lifestyle choices
  • Perform procedures as permitted by state regulations and APP specialty
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated care
  • Document patient care accurately and thoroughly
