The Cardio Pulmonary Technologist performs a variety of infant and pediatric diagnostic tests that contribute directly to patient care by helping referring physicians determine diagnoses and therapy options. The role works closely with neonatologists, pulmonologists, cardiologists, pediatricians, family practice providers, referring physicians, nursing staff, patients, and families, both within and outside the hospital. Procedures include cardiorespiratory studies (pneumograms and memory monitor unit recordings), pulmonary function testing, hypoxic challenges, 6-minute walk tests, impedance pH testing, VO2 cardiopulmonary stress testing, and exercise stress tests. The position may require work across campuses. The Pulmonary Medicine department provides diagnosis, treatment, and management of pulmonary disorders. Its diagnostic and therapeutic services are delivered in a collaborative team environment focused on patients and families, while the department continues to explore new technology and treatment options.
