The Division of Cardio-Oncology at Mount Sinai Fuster Heart Hospital and the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai seeks a full-time faculty member in Clinical Cardio-Oncology at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank. Academic rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Candidates should be cardiologists with dedicated cardio-oncology training or substantial clinical experience in the field, and a demonstrated interest in academic medicine and scholarly productivity. The Mount Sinai Hospital Cardio-Oncology Program, directed by Gagan Sahni, MD, was designated a Gold Center of Excellence by the International Cardio-Oncology Society in 2022—the first in New York State—and renewed its certification in 2025. The program collaborates with oncology, hematology, radiation oncology, onco-surgery, immunology, basic science, and other specialty teams to provide cardiovascular care for cancer patients. The practice serves patients receiving treatment or survivorship follow-up at Mount Sinai Tisch Cancer Center, an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center with multiple Centers of Excellence, research grants, and clinical trials. Its patient population includes people receiving bone marrow transplants, CAR-T and other immunotherapies, and treatment for neuroendocrine and solid tumors. The program has a high-volume inpatient and outpatient practice and receives referrals from the tri-state area and beyond. The position includes clinical, research, and teaching responsibilities. Clinical work includes inpatient consultations and outpatient clinics across Mount Sinai Health Network hospitals, with an aim to scale services with a dedicated nurse practitioner team. Research opportunities span clinical and translational projects across oncology and may include multidisciplinary projects, NIH grants, and CHIP clinic collaborations. Protected research time may be available for candidates whose research background merits it or who are principal investigators on ongoing grants. Teaching includes educating and mentoring cardiology fellows, residents, and medical students, with an early goal of establishing a dedicated Cardio-Oncology Fellowship program. The position offers an appointment at the Icahn School of Medicine and the opportunity to join a high-volume, internationally recognized clinical cardio-oncology program collaborating with an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center. The advertised compensation range is $400,000–$475,000, excluding bonuses, incentive compensation, and benefits; actual compensation depends on factors including experience, specialty, productivity, collections, and hospital or community needs.
