About The Position

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is an independently practicing registered nurse with advanced clinical nursing education and certification in a distinct specialty. The NP diagnoses, treats, and prescribes for conditions within their specialty area. Medical orders, progress notes, and treatment plans do not require physician countersignature. In the Heart Hospital Admin setting at Mount Sinai Hospital, the NP assesses patients and families, develops and documents individualized plans of care, orders and interprets diagnostic and therapeutic services, prescribes medications, and provides education and counseling.
