About The Position

Serves as the Senior Cardiovascular Lab (CVL) lead for technical and patient care functions during diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures. Provides clinical and operational leadership while partnering with the Department Manager and Director to plan, direct, and coordinate departmental operations, financial performance, and personnel activities. Ensures the delivery of high-quality patient care, promotes efficient workflow and resource utilization, supports staff development, and fosters a culture of safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Associate degree from an accredited Invasive Cardiovascular Technology, Cardiopulmonary Technology, Radiologic Technology, Respiratory Therapy, or Paramedic program; or completion of a Surgical Technology certificate program with a minimum duration of one year.
• Three (3) additional years of relevant Cardiovascular Lab experience may be substituted for the educational requirement.
• Minimum of three (3) years of Cardiovascular Lab experience performing adult diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization procedures.
• Demonstrated proficiency in scrubbing, circulating, monitoring, and recording during invasive cardiovascular procedures.
• Advanced knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, and diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures.
• Current Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) certification required.
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required within six (6) months of hire.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required within six (6) months of hire for positions at Presbyterian Downtown only.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the senior clinical and technical resource for Cardiovascular Lab (CVL) staff, providing expertise in circulating, scrubbing, and monitoring roles for adult diagnostic and interventional procedures, as well as advanced service lines including Electrophysiology, Cardiac Devices, Pediatrics, Neuro Intervention, Structural Heart, and Vascular procedures.
• Function as the daily team lead, coordinating workflow and staffing assignments to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care throughout all procedural activities.
• Provide clinical leadership, mentorship, orientation, and ongoing training for staff; serve as a resource for competency development, new technologies, and best practices.
• Promote team engagement, collaboration, and positive customer service relationships while fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and excellence.
• Lead quality assurance and regulatory compliance efforts by developing, tracking, auditing, and reporting service indicators; ensuring adherence to hospital policies, accreditation standards, infection prevention practices, and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Oversee documentation, charge capture, medication administration records, procedural reporting, and PACS image management to ensure accuracy, compliance, and optimal revenue cycle performance.
• Support departmental operations through inventory management, supply ordering, equipment oversight, and maintenance of a safe, efficient, and organized procedural environment.
• Assist with departmental budgeting, resource planning, and financial stewardship, including monitoring expenses and supporting operational performance goals.
• Coordinate personnel-related activities, including scheduling, work assignments, performance evaluations, and recommendations for personnel actions.
• Manage and support designated specialty programs or service lines (Electrophysiology, Cardiac Devices, Pediatrics, Neuro Intervention, Structural Heart, and/or Vascular), including program development, education, quality initiatives, and operational oversight.
• Serve as a super user and subject matter expert for assigned equipment, technologies, and procedural specialties; evaluate, implement, and support new techniques, equipment, testing procedures, and clinical protocols.
• Lead and participate in process improvement initiatives designed to enhance patient outcomes, improve operational efficiency, control costs, and advance departmental performance.
• Maintain effective communication and collaborative relationships with physicians, hospital leadership, interdisciplinary departments, vendors, and professional organizations.
• Respond to emergency situations and provide direct patient care as needed, applying advanced invasive cardiovascular specialist skills to support patient and procedural needs.
• Coordinate educational activities for assigned programs and promote professional growth through continuing education, in-services, workshops, and professional development opportunities.
• Attend meetings, serve on committees, prepare required reports and documentation, and perform other duties as assigned to support the successful operation of the Cardiovascular Lab.
