About The Position

The Cardio Device Clinic Registered Nurse will deliver care to patients utilizing the RN Process. This role performs general nursing triage, obtains and documents health history, and provides patient care based on practice guidelines. A key responsibility includes performing device interrogation of pacemakers and defibrillators, which involves interpretation and reprogramming of cardiac devices. The nurse will program pacemakers and AICD devices independently, with cardiologist review of all programming changes. This position also involves maintaining and analyzing algorithms, EKGs, and other device interrogation data, preparing preliminary reports for cardiologists, and troubleshooting cardiac devices. Patient and family education regarding health status and management of conditions is also a core function. The role participates in multidisciplinary teams to improve patient care processes and outcomes.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (required)
  • Nursing Diploma Nursing (required) or Associate's Degree Nursing (required) or Bachelor's Degree Bachelor of Science in Nursing Pref
  • RN - Registered Nurse Upon Hire (required)
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support Upon Hire (required)
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support Upon Hire (required)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 Year Experience in specialty area ( e.g. Cardiovascular) may be required
  • 1 Year Related experience in a device clinic, or acute hospital nursing setting (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Delivers care to patients utilizing the RN Process.
  • Performs general nursing triage to patients by following established standards and procedures.
  • May perform specific nursing care as relates to specialty of the device clinic.
  • Obtains and documents health history, information on chief complaint, vital signs, and health risk factors including assessing disease conditions.
  • Provide patient care based on practice guidelines, standards of care, and federal/state laws and regulations.
  • Performs device interrogation of pacemakers and defibrillators which includes interpretation and reprogramming of cardiac devices using established protocols set by physicians.
  • As Registered Nurse programs pacemakers and AICD devices independently while having the cardiologist(s) review all programming changes.
  • Maintains and analyzes algorithms; EKG's and other device interrogation data and prepares preliminary reports for the cardiologist(s).
  • Troubleshoots cardiac devices and immediately takes steps to resolve problems, working with physicians as needed.
  • Offers potential solutions as applicable to the patient and device programming.
  • Educates patients and families about health status, health maintenance, and management of acute and chronic conditions.
  • Documents patient assessment and intervention data using established medical record forms, implantation data/automated systems and documentation practices.
  • Participates in multidisciplinary teams to improve patient care processes and outcomes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
