About The Position
Sentara Heart Hospital in Norfolk, VA is seeking a Cardiac Tech to join their team. This position involves assisting Registered Nurses (RNs) with the preparation and recovery of patients undergoing Cardiac Catheterization, Electrophysiology, and Cardiac OR procedures. The department handles 40-60 patients daily. In the recovery area, Cardiac Techs are responsible for settling patients postoperatively, including connecting them to monitors, cleaning, and repositioning. They also obtain EKGs and specimens, remove arterial and venous sheaths from femoral, radial, and brachial sites, assist patients with needs like eating and toileting while on bedrest, and transport patients to their inpatient rooms or assist with discharge. The role requires the ability to lift, push, pull, and stand for extended periods.
Requirements
- High School degree or equivalent
- Patient care technician, cardiac tech, or healthcare tech experience in a similar setting is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Aid RNs throughout the prep and recovery of Cardiac Catheterization, Electrophysiology, and Cardiac OR patients.
- Settle patients in the recovery room postoperatively (hooking to monitor, cleaning, repositioning).
- Obtain EKGs or any specimens ordered.
- Remove arterial and venous sheaths from femoral, radial, and brachial sites.
- Assist patients on bedrest with eating, toileting, or any other request.
- Transport patients to their inpatient room or assist in the discharge process.
