Vascular Interventional Center- Cardiac Tech Nights
About The Position
Sentara Norfolk General is looking for a Cardiac Technician to join the team. This is a full-time night shift position, working three 12-hour shifts from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Cardiac Technicians assist Registered Nurses (RNs) in the preparation and recovery of patients undergoing Cardiac Catheterization, Interventional Radiology, and Cardiac Operating Room procedures. The department handles the preparation and recovery of 20-30 patients daily. In the recovery area, trained cardiac techs are responsible for settling patients postoperatively (connecting to monitors, cleaning, repositioning), obtaining EKGs or ordered specimens, removing arterial and venous sheaths from femoral, radial, and brachial sites, assisting patients on bedrest with needs like eating or toileting, and transporting patients to their inpatient rooms or assisting with discharge. This role requires the ability to lift, push, pull, and stand for extended periods.
Requirements
- High School degree or equivalent
- Patient care technician, cardiac tech, or healthcare tech experience in a similar setting is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Aid RNs throughout the prep and recovery of Cardiac Catheterization, Interventional Radiology, and Cardiac OR patients.
- Settle patients in the recovery room postoperatively (hooking to the monitor, cleaning, repositioning).
- Obtain EKGs or any specimens ordered.
- Remove arterial and venous sheaths from femoral, radial, and brachial sites.
- Assist patients on bedrest with eating, toileting, or any other request.
- Transport patients to their inpatient room or assist in the discharge process.
