About The Position

Corewell Health Wayne Hospital is seeking a Cardiac Sonographer to perform diagnostic cardiac ultrasound examinations. This role involves two-dimensional imaging, spectral and color flow Doppler, m-mode, transesophageal, exercise and pharmacologic echocardiograms, and saline and left ventricular opacification studies on adult patients. The position also includes instructing medical personnel on technical performance, clinical application, and cardiac pathology related to cardiac ultrasound. The Cardiac Sonographer may also serve as a mentor or preceptor for other sonographers and students.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent.
  • Graduate of Diagnostic Ultrasound Program or equivalent.
  • Minimal experience as gained at student level.
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association or American Red Cross Upon Hire.
  • CRT-Sonographer (S) - ARDMS American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (excluding Cardiac) 1 Year required.
  • CRT-Breast Sonographer (BS) - ARDMS American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (excludes Cardiac, General, Vascular) 1 Year required.
  • CRT-Abdomen (AB) - ARDMS American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (excludes Cardiac, Vascular) 1 Year required.
  • CRT-Ob/Gyn (OB) - ARDMS American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (excludes Cardiac, Vascular) 1 Year required.
  • CRT-Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer, Registered (RDCS) - ARDMS American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography Cardiac 1 Year required.
  • CRT-Cardiac Sonographer, Registered (RCS) - Unknown Cardiac 1 Year required.
  • CRT-Vascular Technologist (VT) - ARDMS American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography Within 1 year of hire required for Vascular Department.

Nice To Haves

  • RDCS, ACS, or RCS credentials are required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic cardiac ultrasound examinations including two-dimensional imaging, spectral and color flow Doppler, m-mode, transesophageal, exercise and pharmacologic echocardiograms, and saline and left ventricular opacification studies on adult patients.
  • Instruct medical personnel in technical performance, clinical application, and cardiac pathology as it pertains to cardiac ultrasound.
  • May act as a mentor/preceptor for other Ultrasonographers and/or students.
