About The Position

Mass General Brigham is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to advancing patient care, research, teaching, and community service. We are seeking a Per Diem Cardiac Sonographer to support our practice on-site at 140 Yarmouth Road in Hyannis, Massachusetts. This role will support outpatient general cardiology services, echocardiography, cardiac stress testing, and nuclear cardiac imaging. The practice also supports Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket Cottage Hospital to extend cardiac care to these communities and provide a bridge to Mass General Brigham academic medical centers for advanced care. The position requires picking up a minimum of 2, 8-hour shifts a month, with flexible shift times based on candidate availability.

Requirements

  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) through CCI, or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) through ARDMS required
  • Medical Imaging License through the State of New Hampshire Office of Professional Licensure & Certification (OPLC) required upon hire (for New Hampshire locations)

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree in Sonography preferred
  • Previous experience as a Cardiac Sonographer preferred

Responsibilities

  • Independently perform high-quality transthoracic echocardiograms (TTEs), portable cardiac ultrasound studies, and contrast/bubble studies while acquiring diagnostic images for physician interpretation.
  • Review patient histories, prior imaging, and clinical information to ensure appropriate exam protocols and deliver safe, patient-centered care.
  • Prepare accurate preliminary reports and communicate relevant findings to interpreting physicians in a timely manner.
  • Prepare equipment and exam rooms, adhere to infection prevention and patient safety protocols, and comply with all privacy, departmental, and hospital policies.
  • Utilize proper positioning and ergonomic scanning techniques to ensure patient comfort, safety, and a positive experience for patients and families.
  • Participate in quality improvement and accreditation activities, assist with scheduling and workflow coordination, and meet established productivity and quality standards.
