About The Position
The Cardiac Services Exercise Physiologist provides service excellence to patients, family members, visitors, volunteers, and coworkers. The role evaluates patients for stress testing, reviews patient charts and physician orders, and supervises and coordinates exercise testing protocols. The position monitors and evaluates EKG tracings before, during, and after exercise testing; observes patients and monitors for positive test indications or complications; and records blood pressure and oxygen saturation. It also coordinates stress technician scheduling, helps maintain equipment and supplies, and uses computer systems to process studies for billing, physician interpretation, and electronic-record documentation.
Requirements
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
- Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science.
- Successful completion of a Basic Arrhythmia course or challenge exam.
- BLS required.
- EKG course or certification required.
- ACLS required.
- Complete Radiation Safety training within one month of hire and renew it annually.
Responsibilities
- Provide service excellence to patients, family members, visitors, volunteers, and coworkers.
- Monitor and evaluate EKG tracings before, during, and after exercise testing.
- Supervise and coordinate exercise testing protocols.
- Evaluate patients for stress testing, review patient charts, and interpret physician orders.
- Terminate tests as required by protocols or patient tolerance.
- Document changes in patient status, treatments or prescribed medications, and responses to treatment.
- Coordinate and schedule stress technicians to provide adequate staffing levels.
- Initiate service calls as needed and schedule preventative maintenance when appropriate.
- Evaluate supply levels and order supplies as needed.
- Use computer systems to process studies for charge and billing purposes, ensure physicians interpret EKGs, and complete documentation in patients’ electronic records.
- Record blood pressures and oxygen saturations, observe patient condition, and monitor for indications of positive tests or other complications.
- Perform other work-related duties as assigned or requested.
