About The Position

Join Essentia Health as a Cardiac Rehabilitation Specialist in our outpatient program, where you'll help patients recover and thrive after cardiac events. You'll be part of a supportive team committed to delivering compassionate care in alignment with our mission to make a healthy difference in people’s lives. This role primarily works with adults (18+) recovering from cardiac events such as heart attacks, bypass surgeries, stent placements, heart transplants, and more. You will educate and guide patients through supervised exercise programs and lifestyle modifications to promote heart health and recovery. You will monitor patients during exercise sessions using cardiac telemetry, ensuring safety and accurate data collection. You will assess and document vital signs, symptoms, and progress, making individualized adjustments as needed. You will respond promptly and appropriately to any cardiac-related symptoms or emergencies that may arise during sessions. You will contribute to the growth and continuous improvement of Essentia’s Cardiac Rehabilitation program. There is an opportunity to expand your skills and experience by working in other care settings or facilities across our health system.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Physiology or health care related field.
  • 6 months experience in cardiac rehabilitation.
  • Meets Core Competencies as defined by AACVPR for Cardiac Rehabilitation Specialist
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification within 1 month of hire
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification within 6 months of hire
  • American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Clinical Exercise Physiologist (CEP) OR American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR) Certified Cardiac Rehabilitation Professional (CCRP) within 1 year
