About The Position
Saint Francis Hospital, a member of Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic, is looking for an experienced Cardiac Monitor Tech to join our team! This is a Per Diem position with 12-hour shifts, mixed shifts, and requires working every other weekend and rotating holidays. The Monitor Technician, under the supervision of the Nurse Manager, is responsible for the constant observation of cardiac monitors and promptly notifying the RN of any rhythm changes. This role also involves the interpretation and documentation of rhythm strips.
Requirements
- High School Graduate Required
- Previous Monitor Tech experience preferred
Nice To Haves
- Successful completion of Monitor Technician Class preferred
Responsibilities
- Monitors central station monitors
- Demonstrates ability to operate monitoring equipment
- Demonstrates ability to trouble shoot equipment including faulty leads and battery function
- Initiates and discontinues telemetry on admission, transfer and discharge of patient
- Measures and documents per unit protocol
- Interprets the monitored rhythm
- Notifies the nursing staff of any rhythm disturbance or changes in patient rhythm
- Prints strips with changes in patient’s rhythm
- Reviews alarm history per unit protocol
- Appropriately posts patients off the unit
- Cleans wires and telepacks
- Monitors telemetry supplies and equipment
- Responds appropriately to emergency situations
- Performs EKG’s
- Attends Annual Skills Fair
