This role involves monitoring and evaluating critical cardiac rhythms and EKG analysis, both in-person and remotely. The technician will interrogate, interpret, and re-program cardiac devices, generating reports for physician approval and EMR entry. Responsibilities include monthly monitoring of heart failure reports for ICD and CRT devices, daily evaluation of remote alerts, and preparing full disclosure reports. The technician will also schedule device interrogation appointments, ensure accurate daily charge entry with correct diagnosis codes, and may travel to multiple cardiology arrhythmia service locations. The position requires knowledge of programmer equipment, standard tests, arrhythmias, abnormalities, patient reactions, anatomy and physiology of the heart, and cardiac medications. The role demands attention to detail, independent work, and effective communication skills. It involves fulfilling patient care responsibilities through remote checks, in-office interrogations, and programming of implanted cardiac devices, as well as reviewing abnormal device checks with a Cardiologist or Nurse Practitioner. The technician will identify and correct device and/or lead issues, perform noninvasive pacemaker studies, identify patients needing device upgrades or generator changes, schedule remote follow-ups, and maintain accurate patient implant data. Additionally, the role includes reviewing and returning quarterly follow-up reports to the device registry, placing ambulatory monitors, and downloading and interpreting Holter monitor data. Mentoring and training other team members on implantable devices is also a responsibility. Advanced ECG knowledge is required.
