About The Position

The Sands Constellation Heart & Vascular Institute at Rochester General Hospital is seeking a highly skilled Cardiac Intensivist to join their growing multidisciplinary cardiovascular critical care team within a tertiary care cardiac program. This physician will play an integral role in the management of high-acuity cardiac patients within a dedicated Medical Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU), working collaboratively with Advanced Heart Failure, Interventional Cardiology, Cardiothoracic Surgery, and Electrophysiology specialists. The ideal candidate is passionate about complex cardiovascular critical care and thrives in a collaborative, high-performing environment focused on innovation, clinical excellence, and multidisciplinary patient management.

Requirements

  • MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine, Anesthesiology, or Emergency Medicine.
  • Completion of fellowship training in Critical Care Medicine or combined Cardiology/Critical Care training.
  • Eligible for or currently holding an unrestricted New York State medical license.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in a high-acuity Cardiac or Cardiothoracic ICU environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive critical care management for patients with complex cardiovascular disease, including cardiogenic shock, acute decompensated heart failure, acute coronary syndromes, severe arrhythmias, hemodynamic instability, and multisystem critical illness.
  • Co-manage critically ill cardiovascular patients alongside Advanced Heart Failure specialists.
  • Participate as a core member of the multidisciplinary shock response team.
  • Manage advanced temporary and durable mechanical circulatory support devices, including Impella and LVAD support.
  • Supervise and teach Cardiology fellows, residents, and multidisciplinary clinical teams.
  • Perform and supervise bedside critical care procedures, including central venous catheter placement, arterial line placement, pulmonary artery catheterization, intubation, and bronchoscopy.
