About The Position

This position requires a competent clinician with knowledge and skill to meet standards for competent professional nursing practice as specified in the Texas Nurse Practice Act. The experienced, knowledgeable, and skilled individual will assist in cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology, vascular, and interventional procedures and equipment. The role involves independently assisting in procedures, competently performing emergency procedures associated with catheterization, and following established standards and practices under the direction of a credentialed invasive cardiologist and electrophysiologist. The clinician will function competently as a member of the interdisciplinary team, with predominantly interdependent decision-making. Practice is problem-focused and patient-centered, with the ability to manage unexpected or emergency situations. This role serves as a resource for Cath Lab - Nurse Clinician I or II and can manage commonly seen contingency situations. Patient care is provided through nursing practices based upon the American Nurses Association Standards of Practice, Nursing Process, and UTMB’s three domains for competency and advancement: Professional Practice, and Professional Performance. The clinician will value specialty unit, nursing, and institutional strategic initiatives and health system goals.

Requirements

  • RN with critical care and/or Cath/EP experience, intermediate care experience or two years of clinical RN experience.
  • Must possess and maintain a current license or valid permit to practice in Texas.

Nice To Haves

  • Cardiovascular certification such as CVRN II or higher, CCRN, RCIS, RCES preferred, however, once hired certification is required upon completion of training.

Responsibilities

  • Independently assists in cardiac catheterization as well as electrophysiology, vascular and interventional procedures.
