A Proficient Clinician who possesses the knowledge and skill to meet standards for competent professional nursing practice as specified in the Texas Nurse Practice Act. This role requires an experienced, knowledgeable, and skilled individual in a specialty area, capable of functioning competently as a member of the interdisciplinary team. Practice is characterized by predominantly independent decision-making, with a problem-focused and patient-centered approach to care. The Nurse Clinician III must be able to manage unexpected or emergency situations commonly seen in the assigned specialty population and serves as a resource for Nurse Clinician I or II. This position involves managing commonly seen contingency situations that arise on the clinical unit and providing patient care through nursing practices based upon the American Nurses Association Standards of Professional Practice and Professional Performance. The incumbent is expected to value specialty unit, nursing, and institutional strategic initiatives and health system goals.
