About The Position

LCMC Health is seeking a Board-Eligible or Board-Certified Cardiac Anesthesiologist to join our anesthesia services team. This role provides highly specialized anesthetic care for patients undergoing cardiac, thoracic, major vascular, and other complex surgical and diagnostic procedures, while supporting hospital-wide physiologic and life-support needs.

Requirements

  • Doctoral Degree in Medicine (MD) or Osteopathy (DO)
  • Unrestricted Medical Physician License – Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners
  • Controlled Dangerous Substances (CDS) License – Louisiana
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – American Heart Association
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – American Heart Association
  • Documented continued competence in cardiac anesthesiology to maintain clinical privileges
  • Compliance with Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners Continuing Medical Education (CME) requirements
  • Demonstrated expertise in advanced cardiovascular life support and complex physiologic management
  • Strong commitment to quality, safety, and multidisciplinary collaboration in high-acuity clinical environments

Responsibilities

  • Provide cardiac anesthesia and advanced sedation services for patients undergoing cardiac, thoracic, vascular, and other complex surgical or diagnostic procedures
  • Perform comprehensive pre-anesthetic evaluations with a focus on cardiovascular risk and optimization
  • Manage intraoperative anesthesia, advanced hemodynamic monitoring, and post-anesthetic care for high-acuity patients
  • Consult and collaborate closely with cardiothoracic surgeons, interventional cardiologists, intensivists, and appropriate medical subspecialists
  • Deliver advanced life support, airway management, respiratory care, and physiologic support throughout the hospital when required
  • Provide perioperative and consultative pain management services for cardiac and non-cardiac patients
  • Direct, plan, and supervise anesthesia and sedation services for patients under your care
  • Ensure anesthesia services are delivered in accordance with recognized standards of care, including patient consent, infection control, safety practices, and protocols for life-support and cardiovascular monitoring
  • Complete required pre- and post-procedural anesthesia and sedation evaluations within established timelines
  • Ensure accurate clinical documentation and compliance with all regulatory and reporting requirements
  • Oversee anesthesia equipment needs, including monitoring, inspection, testing, and maintenance of specialized cardiac anesthesia equipment
  • Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives related to cardiac anesthetic care, resolving identified issues and supporting continuous improvement
  • Provide technical oversight and support to multidisciplinary sedation and anesthesia teams
