The Captain, when on duty, is in full command of the aircraft and crew, and is jointly responsible with the Director of Operations (DO) for the pre-flight planning, delay, and release of flight. Reports to the Chief Pilot. The Captain operates at all times in accordance with Company approved/accepted manuals and, as applicable, the OpSpecs, 14 CFRs, FAA Orders, ADs, ACs, Handbook Bulletins, Directives, and manufacturer recommendations. Has full authority and responsibility for all Crewmembers and the safe and efficient conduct of the flight. Such authority commences at the time the Crewmembers report for duty, continues while enroute, at intermediate departure points, and until the Crewmembers have gone off duty to receive a rest period. The Captain will submit reports on irregularities or incidents, as required. They will take an active role in promoting positive attitudes towards culture, core values, compliance, and safety. Ensure pilot appearance, attendance, and personal conduct are in compliance with Company policy, culture, and core values. Comply with all administrative programs including airport/route qualification, flight time limitations, currency requirements (physicals, takeoffs and landings, home study courses, etc.), pilot flight equipment, uniform discipline, manuals, policies and procedures, and others, as assigned. Immediately notify the CP of any discrepancy or incident that may affect their ability, or Company ability, to perform within the parameters of safety, regulatory compliance, and fiscal responsibility. Perform any additional duties or special projects as assigned by the CP. Act, as deemed necessary, to resolve any problems or situations that may compromise safety or compliance. Direct the Flight Crew in a safe and efficient manner to meet the operational requirements of the Company.
