About The Position

Major Food Group is hiring an experienced Captain to join the team at Carbone, an Italian-American restaurant created by Mario Carbone, Rich Torrisi, and Jeff Zalaznick. Carbone pays homage to mid-20th-century New York Italian-American restaurants while drawing on contemporary culinary talent and techniques. The Captain helps deliver a memorable dining experience by anticipating guest needs, ensuring service standards, maintaining the dining room, addressing guest concerns, and demonstrating knowledge of the menu and food and beverage preparation.

Requirements

At least 2–3 years of experience as a Captain in an upscale, high-volume restaurant.
Professional, articulate, friendly, and punctual demeanor.
Drive to provide exceptional service.
Able to work flexible hours, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Able to stand and walk for 8 hours; bend, push, and pull; and lift 30 pounds.
Proficient with computer skills, including POS systems, Word, and Excel.

Nice To Haves

At least 2 years of experience in a Michelin-recognized restaurant.

Responsibilities

Anticipate guests’ needs and ensure service meets or exceeds expectations for a memorable and pleasant dining experience.
Inspect the dining room, table settings, chairs, floors, maintenance, cleanliness, and safety.
Receive and greet guests and assist with seating when necessary.
Check tables throughout service for guest satisfaction and resolve guest issues.
Maintain knowledge of the menu and presentation standards, as well as food and beverage preparation techniques.
