About The Position

This position is for a CAPS Instructor, specifically for the Medical or CNA program, with a 0.50 FTE (Full-Time Equivalent) commitment. The instructor will be responsible for guiding student learning experiences, developing curriculum, and assessing student achievement. The role requires adherence to Iowa Teaching Standards and collaboration with school administration, colleagues, students, and parents. The instructor must be flexible, energetic, innovative, and imaginative in providing learning activities and recognizing each student as an individual.

Requirements

  • Life Science degree or Health-related certificate or field experience.
  • Career Technical Education (CTE) license preferred or ability to obtain the same from Board of Educational Examiners.
  • Certified Health Professional preferred.
  • Valid license issued by the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners, endorsed for the position assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Hold a valid license issued by the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners, endorsed for the position assigned.
  • Diagnose, prescribe, evaluate, and guide student learning experiences, in concert with current goals and objectives, individually or with other staff members.
  • Share responsibility for the development of curriculum, educational procedures, and student activities.
  • Supervise all associates and volunteers who assist in serving students.
  • Evaluate and assess student achievement and use the information for developing additional educational strategies.
  • Provide for the care and protection of school property.
  • Participate in the district’s in-service training program.
  • Maintain cordial and cooperative working relations with colleagues.
  • Be responsible for co-curricular matters and other duties beyond regular classroom activities as determined by the building principal.
  • Provide comprehensive reports to parents/guardians and the principal on academic progress and development.
  • Maintain good public relations and appropriate school-community and school-home working relationships.
  • Be flexible, energetic, innovative, and imaginative in providing learning activities for students.
  • Recognize each student as an individual and attempt to enhance their self-image.
  • Demonstrate competence in the Iowa Teaching Standards, including enhancing academic performance, content knowledge, planning and preparing for instruction, delivering instruction to meet diverse learning needs, monitoring student learning, classroom management, professional growth, and fulfilling professional responsibilities.
