King County Parks & Recreation is hiring multiple Capital Project Manager II professionals with engineering skills to deliver park, trail, and facility improvements. The role is the second level in the four-tier Capital Project Manager classification series and delivers projects of varying complexity and risk from initial planning through closeout. Projects may include fish passage, drainage, regional trails, parks facilities, bridges and trestles, structures, sports fields, demolitions, utilities, and parking lots. Work includes design and review, developing design standards, and coordinating with operations and maintenance staff. The position is part of the Capital Improvement Program (CIP) Engineering Unit, which plans, designs, constructs, and closes out major maintenance and new construction projects. Projects may be designed in-house or through professional consultant contracts and built through advertised construction contracts. The unit also develops park and trail standards and reviews other agencies’ work and special use permits. The position follows a hybrid work model, with the balance of remote and onsite work determined by business needs. Employees must reside in Washington state within a reasonable distance of their King County worksite and maintain a reliable home workspace and internet connection. The role applies King County’s equity, racial and social justice principles in daily work and contributes to resilient, sustainable, and equitable communities. It is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week position, exempt from overtime eligibility. The recruitment seeks to fill three career service positions and three term-limited temporary positions anticipated to last three years; eligible King County employees may instead be offered a special duty assignment.
