Capital Markets Associate

Hadrian Automation•Torrance, CA
•$130,000 - $157,000

About The Position

Hadrian is seeking a Capital Markets Associate to support the company’s capital markets function as it funds growth across debt, equity, and alternative financing. The role partners directly with the CFO and finance leadership, developing capital structure models, debt capacity and sources-and-uses analyses, credit and liquidity models, financing comparisons, and materials for lenders and investors. The Associate owns discrete workstreams under finance leadership rather than owning transactions end to end, and collaborates with Treasury, FP&A, Accounting, and Legal to align financing activities with the broader business. The position sits at the intersection of finance, strategy, and the defense and advanced-manufacturing markets. Its work includes supporting financing execution, preparing lender, investor, Board, and executive materials, maintaining lender reporting and credit agreement compliance, evaluating financing for major capital projects, tracking capital markets, and creating reusable analytical tools and standards. The role is expected to scale as Hadrian’s capital needs and financing cadence grow.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in a capital markets role.
  • Advanced Excel financial modeling skills, including building fully dynamic models from scratch, disciplined use of lookup/index-match/sumifs, clean formatting conventions, and no hardcodes in formula cells.
  • Credit fluency in leverage and coverage analysis, debt capacity, cash flow and liquidity forecasting, and defending assumptions to lenders and leadership.
  • Command of financing instruments and mechanics, including revolvers, term loans, ABLs, high-yield bonds, converts, private credit, preferred equity, and warrants, as well as pricing, covenants, security packages, and key credit agreement terms.
  • Clear written and oral communication skills, including preparing credit memos, lender presentations, one-pagers, and board-quality deliverables; ability to present materials to leadership and work cross-functionally.
  • High ownership, curiosity, strong attention to detail, and comfort owning deliverables with minimal oversight in a fast-paced, scrappy environment.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, lawful permanent resident, protected individual under 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain required U.S. Department of State authorizations, to conform to ITAR requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in debt capital markets, leveraged finance, restructuring, private credit, or corporate treasury/capital markets, ideally covering industrials, defense, or deep tech.
  • Familiarity with aerospace and defense and advanced-manufacturing markets and their participants.
  • Exposure to project finance and large-scale capital investment analysis, including facility buildouts, infrastructure, and capex-heavy programs.
  • Experience reviewing or negotiating credit agreements, term sheets, and commitment papers with high attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with government financing programs, such as DoD Office of Strategic Capital, DPA Title III, and state and local incentives, and how they fit into a capital stack.
  • Working knowledge of defense contracting and government cost accounting, including FAR, CAS, DCAA, and contract types, and how these affect cash flow and credit profile.
  • Intermediate accounting knowledge, including debt accounting, leases, and equity instruments.
  • Comfort building lightweight tooling or automation, such as VBA, Python, or SQL, to scale analytical work.
  • A network across lender, credit investor, and defense, space, or manufacturing investor communities.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain dynamic capital structure, debt capacity, and liquidity models, including sources and uses, pro forma leverage and coverage, covenant headroom, and financing scenarios.
  • Support debt and equity financing execution, including revolvers, term loans, private credit, equipment and facility financing, government-backed loans, and equity raises, through model maintenance, data-room build-out, lender Q&A, and term-sheet comparisons.
  • Prepare lender-, investor-, Board-, and executive-facing materials, including lender presentations, credit memos, and financing recommendations.
  • Own recurring lender reporting and credit agreement compliance, including compliance certificates, borrowing base and covenant calculations, and reporting calendars, in partnership with Treasury and Accounting.
  • Track debt and equity capital markets across aerospace and defense, industrials, and defense technology; maintain a financing comps database covering pricing, leverage, covenants, and structure.
  • Evaluate financing for large capital projects, including new factories and machine capex, project-level returns, lease-versus-buy options, equipment financing, and sale-leaseback alternatives.
  • Partner with FP&A and cross-functional teams to align financing models with the operating plan, cash forecast, and corporate financial reporting.
  • Build and maintain reusable analytical infrastructure, including model templates, formatting standards, and comp libraries.
  • Support relationship management with banks, lenders, and investors, and help prepare for potential future rating agency engagement and public-market readiness.
