A Day in the Life of the Capex Financial Analyst: The CapEx Analyst is responsible for analyzing and monitoring capital expenditures (CapEx) to ensure effective financial planning, cost control, and strategic investment in infrastructure, technology, and operational assets. This role works closely with finance, operations, and engineering teams to track capital spending, optimize investment strategies, and support decision-making related to long-term assets.

Requirements

2-4 years of experience in financial analysis, capital budgeting, or investment planning.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Proficiency in financial modeling, Excel, and financial reporting tools.
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.

Nice To Haves

Experience in telecommunications, infrastructure, or a capital-intensive industry is a plus
Knowledge of ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Workday) and capital expenditure tracking tools.
Understanding of fixed asset accounting and depreciation.
Ability to present financial insights effectively to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Analyze and track CapEx budgets, actuals, and forecasts to ensure alignment with corporate financial goals.
Develop and maintain financial reports detailing CapEx spending, trends, and variances.
Provide insights into capital investment efficiency and return on investment (ROI).
Support the development of annual and multi-year CapEx budgets.
Monitor and report on capital project expenditures versus approved budgets.
Assist in financial modeling and scenario analysis for capital investments.
Identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend strategies to optimize capital spending.
Evaluate the financial impact of capital projects and propose adjustments as needed.
Work with cross-functional teams to streamline CapEx approval and tracking processes.
Partner with finance, engineering, procurement, and operations teams to ensure CapEx alignment with business needs.
Ensure compliance with internal policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements related to capital investments.
Assist in audits and reviews related to capital expenditure reporting.
