About The Position

This role is for a Capernaum Team Leader in the NW Twin Cities area (Wayzata/Orono, MN), serving students with disabilities aged 14-21. The Capernaum program focuses on introducing these students to Jesus Christ and helping them grow in their faith. The ideal candidate will be passionate about developing and strengthening the existing Capernaum Club, possess a heart for students with disabilities, and be eager to share their faith. This position can be either part-time or full-time, depending on the candidate's fit, experience, and desires. Young Life requires all employees to sign a Statement of Faith and adhere to specific conduct and ministry standards reflecting its Christian purposes of evangelism and discipleship.

Requirements

  • Proven relational skills with both kids and adults.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Profess a belief in Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and Lord.
  • Subscribe to the statements and policies required of all Young Life staff, including the Young Life Statement of Faith.
  • Be ready, willing, and able to fulfill ministry functions required by the organization.
  • Refrain from conduct and statements that detract from the biblical standards taught and supported by Young Life.
  • Abide by all policies and practices of Young Life, including those related to religious belief or ministry activities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and participate in effective Young Life ministry through training and direct field experience.
  • Develop a yearly personal growth plan fostering spiritual life, including prayer, spiritual disciplines, fellowship, growth, health, and church relationships.
  • Seek and maintain relationships and disciplines within a church community and actively participate in the spiritual life of the Young Life community.
  • Lead teams and individuals in spiritual development.
  • Equip leaders, committee, and staff through key volunteer care, recruiting, team building, training, supervision, and vision casting.
  • Meet regularly with volunteer leaders and area leadership.
  • Recruit and train new leaders to build a leadership team that reflects the community.
  • Model excellence in contact work, club, Campaigners, and camping to other leaders.
  • Assist in training leaders, team leaders, and committee on effective teamwork and developing yearly ministry strategies.
  • Raise financial support as directed and maintain good donor care practices.
  • Communicate ministry updates and progress to personal donor partners.
  • Network and develop strategic relationships with key adults in the community (principals, pastors, parents, potential committee members).
  • Assist with camp fundraisers.
  • Engage actively in all three levels of contact work.
  • Lead a team to plan and conduct a Young Life club and Campaigners/discipleship ministry with excellence.
  • Lead a team to implement a summer and school-season camping strategy for the ministry.
  • Serve on a summer assignment at a Young Life camp each year.
  • Adhere to all Young Life policies and procedures, maintaining professionalism in office hours, dress, conduct, and time management.
  • Manage finances with stewardship, accountability, and transparency using mission-wide applications.
  • Maintain accurate information on kids, leaders, and donors for area records.
  • Provide clear, prompt, appropriate, and professional communication.
  • Set yearly strategic ministry plans and initiatives to reach every kid and review them regularly.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and congruent with gifts, experience, and area needs.
