About The Position

The Capernaum Coordinator is responsible for leading and developing ministry to adolescents with disabilities. This role involves spiritual development, leadership development, resource development, direct ministry, and administrative support. The coordinator must foster a vibrant spiritual life, equip leaders, develop funding strategies, engage in direct outreach, and maintain accurate records. This position requires a strong commitment to Christian principles and the mission of Young Life, including a willingness to serve in various capacities and adhere to the organization's policies and Statement of Faith. The role also involves working with diverse populations, including children with disabilities, their families, and community stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Foster spiritual development through prayer, spiritual disciplines, fellowship, and church relationships.
  • Develop and implement a yearly personal growth plan for spiritual vitality.
  • Lead teams and individuals in spiritual development, emphasizing prayer and a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Equip leaders, committee members, and staff through volunteer care, recruitment, team building, training, supervision, and vision casting.
  • Partner with the local area director and committee to cast vision for reaching all children, including those with disabilities.
  • Develop a subcommittee to address the specific needs of teens with disabilities and their families, and to raise necessary funding.
  • Create consistent gatherings with the subcommittee and Capernaum leaders to build unity and provide direction.
  • Develop a spiritual leadership plan for Capernaum volunteer leaders and subcommittee members.
  • Recruit and train new leaders to build effective leadership teams.
  • Train leaders and drivers in the physical care of children with disabilities.
  • Provide quality summer staff, work crew, and adult guests for summer camps.
  • Model excellence in contact work, club, Campaigners, and camping.
  • Train leaders and committee members on effective teamwork and develop a yearly ministry strategy with the Area Director.
  • Lead fundraising efforts by finding partners to support the Capernaum area vision and budget.
  • Develop a fundraising strategy for Capernaum and ensure excellent communication with donors.
  • Build the Young Life brand through public relations to support ministry with youth.
  • Conduct quality events that showcase Young Life's impact and encourage investment.
  • Communicate the needs and successes of the Capernaum ministry to the area committee.
  • Engage in all three levels of contact work.
  • Lead or co-lead a model Young Life club and an effective Campaigner ministry.
  • Develop and implement plans to maximize Gospel proclamation through camping opportunities.
  • Serve on summer assignments as requested, which may include camp or other positions.
  • Develop relationships with school administration, parents, and school aides to access children with disabilities.
  • Adhere to all Young Life policies and procedures, maintaining professionalism in office hours, dress, conduct, and time management.
  • Maintain accurate information on children, leaders, and donors for area records.
  • Provide clear, prompt, appropriate, and professional communication to all involved in ministry.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, congruent with gifts, experience, and area needs.
  • Accept both short and long-term assignments of projects.
  • Meet weekly with supervisor for training and guidance.
  • Participate in additional training or experiences as deemed necessary.
  • Attend regional training as directed by the regional director.
  • Participate in programs designed for personal spiritual maturity or enrichment.
  • Pursue seminars designed to enhance professional skills.
  • Complete missionwide training equivalent to traditional staff.
