About The Position

Samsung Austin Semiconductor (SAS) is a world leader in advanced semiconductor technology. The Capacity Planning Engineer is responsible for identifying and eliminating production constraints that hinder monthly delivery and output goals. This role partners closely with Fab Engineering, Production leadership, and Line Planning to devise and execute investment strategies that optimize tool allocation, maximize return on investment (ROI), and increase overall factory profitability. This role will coordinate the investment ramp up, which includes assessing current equipment, sourcing new investment tools, and managing capacity enhancement projects.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and other related Engineering or Applied Mathematics Major will be considered
  • 5+ years' experience in Capacity Planning, Data Analytics, Project Management, Production Strategy or Manufacturing Engineering
  • Proficient in Factory Physics methodologies & supply chain management
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with proficiency in data modeling and forecasting techniques
  • Knowledgeable in Python, SQL, or other scripting languages for data analytics and automation is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform regular analysis on factory bottlenecks for long term and short-term basis
  • Find actions to close capacity gaps and drive those actions to completion
  • Regularly perform line analysis and supply chain forecasting and be able to pinpoint bottleneck areas and take actions to help improve line movement and line balance
  • Regularly perform bottleneck investigations utilizing existing productions plans, tool performance metrics, and existing capacity projects and create summaries of problem areas
  • Coordinate with manufacturing and engineering groups to make output improvements using available scheduling systems as well as analyze data to show the benefit of any action taken
  • Work with engineering teams to improve daily operations and optimize tool performance
  • Perform equipment efficiency analysis and take action to make improvements
