About The Position

Solidarity Strategies is hiring passionate, outgoing, and reliable canvassers for a temporary campaign position in Brownsville, Texas. The program aims to increase voter participation in Brownsville and the Rio Grande Valley and ensure community voices are heard. The organization works to elect Democrats and drive progressive change through grassroots organizing and one-on-one voter conversations. Canvassers speak with voters at their doors, share campaign and election information, and record conversations using tools such as MiniVAN. This is an entry-level role; no prior experience is required, and paid training is provided. Full-time and part-time shifts are available, with flexible scheduling that includes evenings and weekends. The position pays $27 per hour and requires availability of at least 12 hours per week.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years old.
Be authorized to work in the United States.
Have a smartphone with mobile data and access to apps.
Have access to reliable transportation.
Be available at least 12 hours per week, with flexible availability.
Complete paid program training before beginning field work.
Have excellent communication skills and confidence engaging with new people.
Be friendly, reliable, punctual, and detail-oriented.
Be comfortable working outdoors in Texas heat and other weather, and walking for extended periods.
Be tech-savvy and able to use a smartphone for data entry and navigation.
Have problem-solving skills for efficient route planning.

Nice To Haves

Bilingual English/Spanish skills are strongly preferred.
Prior canvassing, campaign, nonprofit, or community outreach experience is helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

Go door-to-door in assigned neighborhoods.
Talk with voters and share information about the campaign and election.
Accurately collect and record data using MiniVAN.
Submit daily reports and check in with a supervisor.
Represent the campaign and its values professionally and respectfully.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Field Director or Field Organizers.
