About The Position

The Canine Handler Security Officer ensures the safety and security of patients, guests, employees, and property by enforcing policies and procedures professionally and courteously. The role combines general security duties with specialized canine handling responsibilities. The successful candidate is expected to work overtime regularly. This is a regular, full-time, non-exempt position with 40 weekly hours. The listed schedule is eight-hour shifts, Monday through Friday, with day, evening, or night shifts and occasional weekend requirements. The pay range is $46.65 to $69.98 per hour. Eligible positions include a comprehensive benefits package.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Valid driver’s license required to operate Sutter Health vehicles.
Obtain a Proprietary Private Security Officer (PSO) certification within 30 days of start date.
Complete K-9 training within 90 days of hire.
Five years of experience in security, law enforcement, or military service.
Three years of experience as a certified K-9 handler.
Proficiency with computers and Windows-based applications for data entry and information retrieval.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Technical knowledge of canine behavior, handling techniques, and emergency first aid for canines.
Ability to recognize and differentiate canine and zoonotic diseases communicable to humans.
Knowledge of Adam’s Law and Megan’s Law.
Ability to work effectively in a team and maintain composure in stressful situations.
Basic knowledge of criminal and civil laws and investigative procedures.
Availability to work overtime regularly.
