About The Position

Campus Service Workers perform various functions to ensure building environments are kept clean following established procedures on an assigned schedule. This is an evening shift position.

Requirements

  • Ability to operate various mechanical cleaning equipment such as vacuums, buffers, carpet extractors, pressure washers, etc.
  • Ability to maintain facility in a sanitary and infection-free condition through washing, cleaning, and sanitizing surfaces.
  • Ability to disinfect high touch areas daily upon request or during seasonal issues (e.g; flu season, etc)
  • Ability to dispose of trash, waste, and other disposable materials as required.
  • Ability to clean accessible interior and exterior windows as needed, per schedule and upon request.
  • Ability to clean and disinfect restroom and shower facilities daily including (but not limited to); floors, wash basins, mirrors, urinals, commodes, etc.
  • Ability to sweep, mop, scrub, and vacuum floors, stairwells, elevators, and related areas.
  • Ability to dust and polish furniture and required surfaces.
  • Ability to provide coverage to additional areas when co-workers are absent.
  • Ability to restock paper supplies and soap in dispensers when necessary.
  • Ability to mix and dilute various cleaning solvents, chemicals, etc.
  • Ability to mop, strip, and refinish floor surfaces manually or using mechanical equipment.
  • Ability to pressure wash exterior items campus wide (including but not limited to): entryways, sidewalks, benches, windows, etc.
  • Ability to maintain inventory of cleaning agents and equipment.
  • Ability to maintain cleaning equipment.
  • Ability to lock and unlock assigned building(s) and interior areas per schedule or when advised by supervisor.
  • Ability to clean and maintain the sidewalk area 15 feet from exterior doors to include shoveling snow or ice and removing leaves and other debris.
  • Ability to move furniture as needed.
  • Ability to assist in the set-up and/or tear down for special events.
  • Ability to report any needed building repairs or safety issues to supervisor.
  • Ability to comply with all regulations such as OSHA , EPA , State Health Department, etc.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with mechanical cleaning equipment

Responsibilities

  • Cleans accessible interior and exterior windows as needed, per schedule and upon request.
  • Cleans and disinfects restroom and shower facilities daily including (but not limited to); floors, wash basins, mirrors, urinals, commodes, etc.
  • Sweeps, mops, scrubs, and vacuums floors, stairwells, elevators, and related areas.
  • Dusts and Polishes furniture and required surfaces.

  • Mixes and dilutes various cleaning solvents, chemicals, etc.
  • When necessary or when scheduled; mops, strips, and refinish floor surfaces manually or using mechanical equipment.
  • Upon request, pressure washes exterior items campus wide (including but not limited to): entryways, sidewalks, benches, windows, etc.
  • Maintains inventory of cleaning agents and equipment.
  • Maintains cleaning equipment.
  • Locks and unlocks assigned building(s) and interior areas per schedule or when advised by supervisor.
  • Cleans and maintains the sidewalk area 15 feet from exterior doors to include shoveling snow or ice and removing leaves and other debris.
  • Moves furniture as needed.
  • Assist in the set-up and/or tear down for special events.
  • Reports any needed building repairs or safety issues to supervisor.
  • Comply with all regulations such as OSHA , EPA , State Health Department, etc.
  • Performs other duties as assigned deemed necessary to meet the needs of Marshall University including performance of work in support of other shops/trades.
