Campus Safety Student Worker (FWS/NFWS)
About The Position
The Campus Safety Student Guard position assists GCU’s Public Safety department in maintaining campus safety. This role involves directing traffic, checking identification and decals of individuals entering campus, and performing other duties as assigned by a Public Safety Supervisor or Manager. The position requires working a minimum of two shifts per week, with a maximum of 20 hours per week. Available shifts include Day Shift (0530-1500, excluding Wednesdays), Swing Shift (1430-2100, excluding Wednesdays), and Night Shift (2200-0230, Fridays and Saturdays only). Failure to work the minimum required shifts may result in termination.
Requirements
- Valid driver's license
- Clean driving record
- Enrolled at GCU as a full-time student in a Bachelor’s program or Master’s program.
- Retain a 2.0 GPA as a Bachelor level student or a 3.0 GPA as a Master level student.
- Maintain good financial standing with the University.
- Computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Must be punctual.
- Responsible, trustworthy, approachable, and assertive.
Nice To Haves
- Criminal Justice Studies or ROTC students preferred.
- Sophomores and upperclassmen preferred; freshmen will only be considered in special cases.
- The ideal candidate will have a positive, friendly, and outgoing personality.
- Customer service oriented.
- Willingness to learn and able to follow procedures.
Responsibilities
- Direct traffic to different campus locations at booths.
- Greet, ID, and decal check everyone coming onto campus.
- Assist with other details as assigned by a Public Safety Supervisor or Manager.
- Work a minimum of two shifts a week, up to 20 hours a week.
