About The Position

Daily supervision of students, school building, grounds and perimeter of school in concert with other security personnel, under the direction of supervisor(s), to ensure safety of pupils, personnel, visitors, and property, as well as maintenance of OPRFHS Code of Conduct and other applicable rules.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Experience with adolescents required.
  • Must successfully attend and complete mandatory training including ICS (series 300, 400 and 800) if designated to participate.
  • Must attend designated training and professional development and expected to work during the senior graduation ceremony.
  • Ability to maintain composure in volatile situations.
  • Ability to reduce the level or intensity of a difficult or dangerous situation.
  • Mastery of interpersonal skills in communicating with students, faculty/staff, parents, & community members and law enforcement/fire/medical personnel.
  • Ability to maintain a positive and cooperative working relationship with supervisor(s), SIDS, administrators and any other contacts associated with the position.
  • Good physical condition; able to run, stand for long periods of time, and run up stairs quickly in responding to calls for assistance.
  • Must be strong enough to physically restrain a student if necessary.
  • After the job is offered, candidate must have physician's certification to physical ability to perform rigors of position before appointment receives final approval.
  • Must have a valid Driver's License.
  • Ability to work independently and to make quality judgments that meet the needs of the school community.
  • A core system of personal values and integrity that will support the work and focus of school community and assist ensuring safety of students, staff and visitors.
  • Highly organized, detail orientated, adaptable to change, capable of handling/prioritizing multiple tasks, people oriented, and comfortable using standard business technology.
  • Strong understanding of emergency procedures are essential with a solid working knowledge of current technology available to support the work.
  • Culturally competent with the ability to establish and maintain good working relations with a diverse group of people.
  • Ability to work overtime when necessary.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all members of the school community.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely and professionally in all verbal and written communications including writing reports as necessary.
  • Effectively present information and respond to questions is required.
  • Effectively operate two-way radio communications skills preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise interior and exterior of school, grounds, and in concert with other security personnel as assigned.
  • Promote and maintain consistency among all security personnel in approaching individuals and in referring students to the Student Intervention Director for school rule infractions.
  • Responsible for securing valuable lost and found items including securing and logging items and returning items when individuals appear to reclaim.
  • Respond to requests for assistance whenever on duty.
  • Investigate all student misconduct and complaints made against non-students.
  • Refer all concerns and findings to Director of Campus Safety.
  • Responsible for assigning and accessing lockers; all related documentation.
  • Prepares written incident reports or other reports as necessary.
  • Using the Degree Point System when patrolling the campus.
  • Experienced in working with Easy Lobby System.
  • Escort students to the community library to assure safety and security of students and the community.
  • Experienced in Easy Lobby System.
  • May be required to work extended hours as needs arise.
  • Responsible for delivering discipline letters within the community using the District’s security vehicle.
  • Provide coverage of the in-school suspension room when necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.
